As Aam Aadmi Party’s top leadership faces a major political crisis following Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest in connection with a money laundering case linked to now-scrapped Delhi excise policy, Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar) leader Jitendra Awhad on Saturday questioned AAP Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha’s absence and said his disappearance hurts party workers.

In a now-deleted post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Awhad wrote, “Where is Raghav Chadha?" NCP (Sharad Pawar) and AAP are part of the opposition INDIA Bloc, which was formed to fight against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Lok Sabha elections.

While speaking to the reporters, Awhad spoke about the active presence of Atishi and other leaders of the AAP, before asking about the absence of Raghav Chadha. He also called Chadha a valuable asset to the AAP.

“All leaders of AAP are seen. Atishi and others are so active. Raghav Chadha is the face of the party and is very intelligent. His disappearance hurts party workers," Awhad said, as quoted by India Today.

“Gone are the days when, being at a distance, you cannot connect with people. It is very strange that just because he is in London he cannot comment. He can make a video and send his message to the party. We are asking questions over his complete disappearance," he further added.

The young MP, considered as Kejriwal’s ‘blue-eyed boy’, had reportedly gone to London in the first week of March with his actor wife Parineeti Chopra. According to news agency PTI, Chadha is in London for a vitrectomy, which is a type of eye surgery that prevents retinal detachment.

As Chadha remains in the United Kingdom (UK), unsure of his return to India, friends and rivals have begun to speculate on the reasons for his extended absence.

Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who was arrested by the  Enforcement Directorate in connection with a money laundering case linked to the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy, is currently in the probe agency’s custody till April 1. Kejriwal was arrested from his official residence in the national capital on March 21.
