Gangster-politician Mukhtar Ansari was on Thursday killed after cardiac arrest while being lodged inside Banda Jail in Uttar Pradesh. The autopsy report revealed there was a ‘yellow area’ in his heart, which was a probable sign of blood clotting, HT reported citing sources.
Ansari’s family, however, reiterated that the former was killed due to slow poisoning, adding that they will present the proof in this regard at the right time.
Updates:
- A panel of five doctors conducted an autopsy on Ansari, which revealed that the latter had a ‘yellow spot’ in his heart. It was reportedly due to blood clotting. “There were clear signs of blood clotting in the heart; the portion measuring 1.9 x1.5 cm was yellow,” HT reported.
- As per jail documents, Ansari was suffering from heart-related ailments. He was diabetic and had also developed a skin allergy. The gangster-politician was also battling depression.
- The deceased’s lawyer on March 21 filed a complaint in the Barabanki Court that the former was poisoned on March 19.
-Despite the autopsy report claiming a heart attack as the reason for Ansari’s death, his family maintains that he was murdered. "Mukhtar Ansari has been killed and removed out of the way. When the time comes, we will give strong proof that he was killed with poison. To save some criminals, the whole government and its machinery have done a huge conspiracy. They have no shame," news agency ANI quoted Afzal Ansari as saying.
- Afzal said his brother told him, during their five-minute meeting, that he had been poisoned. "We received a message at 3 am that Mukhtar Ansari's condition is serious. When we reached the hospital, we were allowed to meet with difficulty, only for 5 minutes. During the 5-minute meeting, Mukhtar Ansari said that he had been poisoned and because of that he had fainted. He said that he was in extreme pain. He said that he had fainted and was shifted to the hospital in that condition," he added.
- A judicial probe has now been initiated in the case. A three-member team has been designated to conduct the magisterial investigation. The Chief Judicial Magistrate, Banda, issued the orders in this regard.
- Ansari was facing conviction in many cases. Last year, he was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for the murder of BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai. On March 13 this year, he was given life imprisonment for presenting forged documents to procure an arms licence in 1990.
