A case has been registered against beauty parlour owner Ruchika Singh for allegedly making objectionable remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a protest in Delhi. The FIR was filed by Supreme Court lawyer Smriti Singh, following which Noida Police booked Ruchika under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Singh came into the spotlight after a video from the protest went viral, in which she was allegedly seen using insulting words against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a demonstration by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. The remarks are said to have hurt the dignity of the Prime Minister’s post. Following the controversy, several people also expressed anger against her on social media platforms.
Who Filed Complaint Against Ruchika Singh?
Smriti Singh, a Supreme Court advocate living in Vasundhara, Ghaziabad, filed the complaint at the Expressway police station on Wednesday. In her complaint, Smriti alleged that on July 23, Ruchika Singh publicly used abusive and objectionable language against the Prime Minister. She claimed that the remarks damaged the dignity of a constitutional post and were made intentionally with the aim of spreading hatred and disturbing public peace. She demanded strict action against such acts.
Noida Police Register Case
Following her complaint, Noida Police have registered a case against Ruchika Singh under Sections 352, 353(1), and 356(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). According to these sections, the accused can face imprisonment ranging from two to three years along with a fine.
Section 352: Deals with intentional insult that may provoke a fight or disturb public peace. It carries a punishment of up to two years in jail, a fine, or both.
Section 356(1): Covers defamatory statements made to harm someone’s reputation. It carries a punishment of up to two years in jail, a fine, or both.
Section 353(1): Deals with spreading false or inflammatory information that may create a risk of law-and-order issues or public unrest. It carries a punishment of up to three years in jail, a fine, or both.
Who Is Ruchika Singh?
During the police investigation, it was found that Ruchika Singh is reportedly a beauty parlour owner from Faridabad. She lives in Lotus Zing Society in Noida Sector 168. After the case was registered, she allegedly locked her flat and has not been spotted since. She is originally said to be from Uncha Gaon in Faridabad. However, police said the address linked to her mobile number could not be verified with the Uncha Gaon address.
