A social media user on X shared disturbing visuals where a Blinkit deliveryman was caught touching her ‘inappropriately’ while delivering her order. The woman posted the CCTV footage of the incident on X and urged Blinkit to take strict action against the delivery partner.

The video triggered massive online discussions and backlash from the netizens against the company. However, some internet users said that the incident might be accidental.

What Was The Incident?

The video showed the delivery boy removing a brown parcel from his bag and handing it over to the woman outside her house. The woman paid him the cash, and while handing over the parcel, he was seen touching the woman’s chest with his other hand despite the woman stepping away from the delivery man. 

“This is what happened with me today while ordering from Blinkit. The delivery guy asked for my address again and then touched me inappropriately. This is NOT acceptable. Blinkit please take strict action. #Harassment #Safety Blinkit…Is women's safety is joke in India?,” the woman wrote while sharing the CCTV footage of the incident.

The woman later commented that Blinkit officials reached out to her and had decided to terminate the contract of the delivery man.

How Did The Netizens React?

Social Media has been divided into two starkly different points of view, with one side applauding her for taking strict actions against the company, while the other side questioned the authenticity of the video.

One user wrote, “You should have called him out immediately! Also, put feedback on Blinkit."

Another user wrote, “Yes, it can be clearly seen he deliberately brought his hand close to your upper body and touched you inappropriately. Your flinching can be seen. You’re lucky or well-prepared camera wise…without this recording it would be hard to pin his crime. Take it up strongly."

Despite this overwhelming support for the woman, some people felt that the incident was not ‘deliberate’, but rather ‘accidental’. A person said, “It may have been a mistake as I think he thought the parcel was in his right hand…It happens sometimes. I was thinking something really serious in the whole video. Did he talk inappropriately with you also? Writing about women safety is a joke, etc. seems unnecessary."
