The body of a 25-year-old man was found hanging from a neem tree in the Bhikharipur area of Mahigawan on Saturday morning, with his family alleging that he was murdered. The deceased has been identified as Mahendra, a resident of Bhikharipur and a tractor driver by profession.

The discovery was made by passers-by near a cold storage facility on the Itaunja-Kursi road, who then informed the police. Officers arriving at the scene found Mahendra hanging by a noose made from a thin cotton towel (Gamchha). A forensic team has collected evidence from the site as part of the investigation.

Jitendra, the victim's brother, told authorities that Mahendra had left home on Friday evening, saying he was going to his sister's house in Lohangpur. He alleged that his brother had been involved in a dispute with some people from the village a month ago, which had resulted in an assault case being registered at the Itaunja police station.

Jitendra further claimed that Mahendra had received death threats following that altercation. Citing this history, the family has expressed strong suspicion of foul play and demanded a thorough investigation into the death.
