Amid the current diplomatic strain between India and Canada, Interpol has issued a Red Corner Notice against 19-year-old gangster Yogesh Kadian who hails from Beri village of Haryana' Jhajjar. Yogesh Kadian, who was born in 2004, has been booked under severe criminal charges that include criminal conspiracy, attempt to murder, acts done by several persons in furtherance of a common intention, and possession and use of prohibited arms and ammunition.
Interpol, an international law enforcement agency, works in tandem with police and intelligence forces of various countries to mitigate cross-border crime and help them nab fugitive criminals. The Red Corner notice against Yogesh Kadian has been requested by the Indian government.
According to a report published in India Today, Kadian had fled India and currently residing in the United States.
Notably, after the National Investigation Agency (NIA) launched action against the gangster-terror network, many gang members have either gone into hiding or left the country using forged passports. It is believed that Kadyan has also escaped using a fake passport.
NIA is investigating the 'Khalistan-gangsters' links since the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala in May 2022. Since then the central probe agency had some successful breakthroughs. An earlier probe by NIA has revealed that a group of gangsters having nexus with Arsh Dala, a listed terrorist, conspired in a criminal plot to generate funds for the banned terror organization Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF). Additionally, they were involved in the illicit trafficking of arms, ammunition, and explosives for the KTF from across the border.
