Dhanbad Bus Accident: Three buses carrying pilgrims from Jamtara to Luguburu Ghantabari in Bokaro collided with each other near the Forest Department office at Chalibangla in Rajganj on Monday night.

More than 70 people were injured in the accident, jagran.com reported. Those seriously injured were immediately transported to SNMMCH, Dhanbad for treatment. The accident occurred around 12 midnight.

All Buses Left Together At 9 AM On Monday

All three buses left the Nala petrol pump for Lalpania in Bokaro at around 9 am on Monday morning. All three buses were carrying members of the tribal community who were going to Laguburu Ghantabari for a puja.

According to a female passenger, Latika Soren, their bus was traveling at the rear of the convoy. When it collided with the bus in front, the impact was so intense that all the passengers were thrown from their seats. Since the door was locked, they had to break the front glass to escape.

The second bus, which was traveling ahead, also came to a halt after being hit from behind, while the leading bus sped away from the scene. Following the accident, around 120 passengers from the two trailing buses got out and gathered at a nearby petrol pump.

In the accident, Ras Muni Devi, a 70-year-old resident of Tada, suffered a broken arm. Besides these, more than three dozen other passengers, including Sonali Hansda, Basanti Kisku, Dhan Tudu, Lukhi Muni Hembram, Bai Hembram, Mongoli Soren, Raj Dev Marandi, and Deepak Murmu, were injured, as per jagran.com.

Traffic Disrupted On NH-19

Upon receiving information about the accident, police arrived at the scene and immediately began relief and rescue operations. Traffic on the Kolkata-Delhi lane of NH 19 was disrupted due to the accident. Traffic was restored after police removed the buses involved in the accident.
