Preparations are underway to route the Howrah-Gaya Vande Bharat Express (running via Dhanbad) through the New Giridih Railway Station three days a week. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw gave this assurance to Union Minister and Koderma MP Annapurna Devi. During discussions regarding the operation of the train, a consensus was reached to route it via New Giridih for three days a week. This move is expected to provide the benefits of modern and fast rail services to the Giridih, Parasnath and Koderma regions.

Proposal For Spiritual Corridor And Increased Frequency

In addition, a proposal was submitted to run the Deoghar-Jasidih-Varanasi Vande Bharat Express via New Giridih and Koderma three days a week. The aim is to develop a strong spiritual rail corridor connecting major religious sites such as Babadham, Kashi Vishwanath, and Parasnath. A demand was also raised to increase the frequency of the Delhi-Godda Express to three days a week, as the train is currently unable to meet passenger needs due to overcrowding and long waiting lists. The Railway Minister responded positively to this request.

Focus On Freight And Logistics Infrastructure

Regarding freight operations, proposals were made to expand the rack point at New Giridih Station, develop an additional rack point to meet industrial requirements, and establish New Giridih as a major logistics hub. It was also highlighted that while the tender for the Maheshmunda rack point has been finalised, construction is yet to begin. The Railway Minister assured that the work would commence shortly.

Infrastructure Development And Economic Growth

The meeting also addressed various infrastructure issues, including the double-lining of the Giridih-Koderma-Madhupur rail section, station expansion, shed construction, and the improvement of passenger amenities on the Parasnath-Giridih section. Highlighting the region's industrial and mineral significance—specifically coal, mica, stone chips, and dolomite—it was emphasized that better rail infrastructure would boost railway revenue and provide new momentum to employment, trade, and investment in the area.
