A 21-year-old widow was set on fire by her lover and his wife in Dumka, Jharkhand. The incident took place in Sitasal village, under the Shikaripara police station, late in the evening on November 13.

The victim, Maku Murmu, had been in a relationship with the accused, Mongala Dehri, for three years.

Amit Lakra, officer-in-charge of Shikaripara police station, told PTI, "An FIR has been filed based on the complaint lodged by the victim’s mother, Phulmani Hansda. The victim is being treated at Burdwan Medical College and Hospital in adjoining West Bengal."

According to Hansda’s complaint, on November 13, Dehri and his wife visited Murmu’s home in Sitasal village and got into a heated argument with her. After the confrontation, they allegedly poured petrol from her house over her and set her on fire.

Dehri was arrested on Saturday evening, while his wife remains at large. Authorities have launched a manhunt to apprehend her.
