The state government is making efforts to secure global recognition for Jharkhand's megalithic, monolithic, and fossil heritage as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Ministerial Visit To The UK
In this regard, the state's Minister for Tourism, Art-Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs, Sudivya Kumar, held discussions with relevant institutions regarding the conservation and scientific management of this heritage during a visit to the United Kingdom.
Key Technical Consultations
Museum of London Archaeology: As part of this, detailed discussions were held in London with the Museum of London Archaeology on the conservation, scientific documentation, technical evaluation, and long-term management framework for Jharkhand's ancient megalith/monolith sites. The meeting included discussions on conservation methods conforming to international standards, as well as potential areas for technical cooperation and capacity-building.
Wardell Armstrong/SLR Consulting: Similarly, in a meeting held with Wardell Armstrong/SLR Consulting, technical consultation was sought from experts on subjects related to the scientific conservation, environmentally-sensitive management, and long-term planning for the state's megalithic, monolithic, and fossil-rich sites.
Strategic Objective
The objective of these meetings is to prepare a structured and practical action plan with international technical expertise for the conservation of Jharkhand's ancient heritage, ensuring that the preservation of these sites is approached scientifically.
