The Jharkhand government has announced plans to construct a hostel in Delhi for students from the state preparing for the UPSC examinations. Welfare Minister Chamra Linda announced on Sunday during a cultural dance competition at St. Xavier's College.
Speaking at the event, the minister said the initiative is aimed at supporting Jharkhand students in their preparation for administrative services while residing in Delhi, enhancing their chances of success. He added that the idea was inspired by a similar building in Dwarka, Delhi, constructed by the Meena community to support students from their community.
Chamra Linda emphasised that tribal students should aim to become IAS officers, as state administration depends on such officials. He also highlighted the pride and importance of tribal heritage, noting that tribal people contributed to the Mohenjo-daro and Harappan civilisations and had a long-standing presence in Chotanagpur since the 10th century.
Several dignitaries were present at the event, including Sisai MLA Jiga Susaran Horo, Father Nabor Lakra, Dr Father Ephrem Bara, St. Xavier’s College Vice Principal Father Dr Ajay Arun Minj, and Dr Father Kennedy Soreng.
