Causes Of Forehead Acne

You Wear Tight Hair Bands

According to Dr Sharad, friction will cause irritation and excessive oil production therefore more acne. Hair bands can trap moisture and sweat against the skin creating a humid environment for acne-causing bacteria. If your hair bands are dirty and they are very tight they will trap dirt, bacteria, moisture, and sweat and lead to more forehead acne.

Hair Oils

When applied at bedtime, it can trickle onto your forehead and clog your pores. If you are using hair sprays that contain oils or silicon or even other pore-clogging substances when they come in contact with your skin, they will contribute to forehead acne. 

Wearing Hats, Caps And Helmets

Wearing hats, caps and helmets can contribute to the formation of forehead acne because of the sweat that accumulates heat as well as friction. 

Dandruff

One of the most common reasons for forehead acne is considered dandruff. Dr Sharad says that due to Malassezia furfur, it may infect the forehead as well and you get what is known as fungal acne.

Dr Aanchal Panth, Dermatologist, MBBS, MD listed some effective home remedies to treat forehead acne. 

Avoid Certain Hair Oils

Avoid using hair oils that contain heavy or comedogenic ingredients as they can exacerbate forehead acne by increasing oil secretion and clogging pores. 

Treat Dandruff

Dr Panth suggests that people with forehead acne, mostly have dandruff as well. When dandruff is treated, it improves forehead acne. 

Keep Hair Away From Forehead

If you are suffering from forehead acne, then you should keep your hair away from your forehead. If you have hair that is constantly covering or rubbing against your forehead, this can exacerbate forehead acne. Changing hairstyle or using a hair band can help.
