Heart diseases are one of the serious health conditions and among the leading causes of death for people across the world. According to health specialists, some types of heart diseases are caused by an issue with one or more genes that are inherited or passed down through families. Moreover, if you have a family history of heart attacks, your genes may already be at a higher risk for cardiovascular issues. Moreover, people unknowingly engage in daily habits that can trigger the heart and increase the chances of developing serious conditions like heart disease or cardiac arrest. Thus, there are certain habits dangerous to the heart that need to be avoided.

Often, some habits are overlooked and underestimated, but they can be harmful to the heart when combined with genetic risk factors. Habits like poor sleep or sitting for long hours can be detrimental to the heart. Thus, it is important to avoid these habits to lower the chances of heart complications. Here are the five habits that are dangerous for heart, especially if you have a family history of heart attacks.

5 Habits That Can Trigger Heart Attacks

Starting Your Day With Warm Water With Lemon And Honey

Many people begin their day with a glass of hot water with a drizzle of honey and some lemon juice, which gives energy as well as helps in digestion. Despite sounding healthy, health experts often say that it can cause a spike in blood sugar and insulin levels that are not ideal for the heart.

Post-Meal Desserts

Although it is fine to indulge in desserts once in a while, it is not important to make it a regular habit. Sweet treats after a meal can cause massive insulin spikes, weight gain and unhealthy cholesterol levels, which can trigger a heart issue.

Eating Dinner Late At Night

Those having a family history of heart attacks need to be extremely careful of not just the diet, but also when they eat. Having dinner late at night can cause digestion issues but also raise blood sugar levels and spike triglycerides, making it a risk for heart health. It is important to eat dinner by 7 PM so that it gives enough time for the body to digest it. Besides, foods that are high in saturated fat, trans fat, cholesterol, sugar and salt can contribute to heart disease. Foods like whole grains (oats, quinoa, barley, etc), seasonal fruits and vegetables, fish, and low-fat dairy must be incorporated into the diet.

Sitting For Long Hours

Sitting for long hours at the same place can contribute to heart issues by slowing down the flow of blood, allowing the fatty deposits to build up in the arteries, thus increasing the risk of atherosclerosis and ultimately leading to heart attacks. When people sit in one place for long hours, the muscles are not actively pumping blood back to the heart, which can contribute to higher blood pressure and insulin resistance, both contributing to heart diseases.

Poor Sleeping Habits

Sleeping late at night increases stress hormones, disrupts peaceful sleep and can put extra strain on the heart, thus triggering the risks of heart attacks.
