As COVID-19 cases rise once again, many people are feeling uneasy about returning to crowded places and their daily routines. While it may seem like a step backwards, the good news is that the precautions we’ve learned over the past few years remain effective and easy to follow. These simple habits can help keep you and your loved ones safe as we navigate this resurgence.

In a conversation with Jagran English, Dr. Vikas Mittal, Director - Pulmonologist, CK Birla Hospital, Delhi shared essential precautions that you must follow everyday to prevent yourself from Covid.

Precautions To Follow Everyday

Mask Up When Needed

Masks remain a powerful defence, especially in indoor or crowded settings like public transport, shopping malls or offices. Wearing a well-fitted mask reduces the chance of inhaling or spreading virus-laden droplets. Keep some masks handy and use them where social distancing isn’t possible.

Prioritise Hand Hygiene

Washing hands regularly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or using a hand sanitiser with at least 60% alcohol helps eliminate the virus from your hands. Avoid touching your face, especially your eyes, nose and mouth to prevent the virus from entering your body.

Maintain Physical Distance

Wherever possible, keep a safe distance from people who are coughing, sneezing or feeling unwell. Even a meter of separation can significantly reduce the risk of transmission.

Ventilate Indoor Spaces

Good airflow dilutes airborne virus particles. Open windows and doors when indoors, and consider using air purifiers if ventilation is limited. This simple step can make shared spaces much safer.
