Happy Puri Jagannath Rath Yatra 2024: One of Orissa's most well-known major festivals, the Puri Jagannath Rath Yatra draws millions of pilgrims from all over the world. The famous and auspicious Puri Jagannath Rath Yatra will commence tomorrow, July 7, at 4:26 AM, and conclude on July 8 at 4:59 AM. The seaside town of Puri hosts this celebration every year. It is devoted to the incarnations of Lord Vishnu, Lord Jagannath, and his siblings, Goddess Subhadra and Lord Balabhadra.

As part of the Rath Yatra, also called the Chariot Festival, these deities are ceremoniously paraded from their residence in the Jagannath Temple to the Gundicha Temple, which is about two miles away. The festival's grand finale is the sight of the three giant chariots, beautifully decorated and built from scratch every year, being pulled through Puri's streets by thousands of devotees. Pulling the chariots is considered a very auspicious deed, representing the devotees' love and devotion to the gods.

The celebration lasts for many days and features a wide range of customs, live performances, and a lively atmosphere that captures the locals' spiritual ardor and ingrained traditions. The yatra starts on Snana Purnima, when the deities are ritually bathed. This is followed by a period of seclusion, and on the day of the Rath Yatra, there is a grand parade. The festival concludes with the Bahuda Yatra, the return trek, which is equally important.
