Eggs are low in calories containing only 78 calories and 6 grams of protein in each. For healthy people, it is okay to consume three eggs twice or thrice a week. It is advisable to eat the egg white if only protein intake is concerned, ditching the high-calorie yellow yolk. However, people with heart issues or elevated cholesterol need to reduce the consumption of eggs. They should indulge in eggs in moderation. According to Mass General Brigham, heart patients can eat one day per day, averaged over a week. Individuals having heart conditions should opt for plant-based alternatives to eggs which provide similar nutritional benefits without the associated risks.

Risk Factors For Heart Patients

Although eggs contain numerous nutrients, consuming them daily can cause risks to heart patients. Eggs can increase the risk of heart disease and death. This may be due to the presence of high dietary cholesterol and saturated fats in them. Besides, eating too many eggs can cause digestive discomfort bloating, gas, indigestion, vomiting, stomach pain and others. Relying too much on eggs can cause nutrient imbalance, leading to weight gain which is harmful for heart patients.
