Young men who have hair loss, especially those under 25, frequently struggle with different emotional and self-esteem issues. Hair loss can cause social anxiety and lowered self-assurance. Financial hardships may also be associated with coping with this problem as people look for solutions or therapies.
It's vital to understand that for many young guys, experiencing hair loss may be a highly personal and distressing experience. Addressing these issues with respect and support will go a long way toward assisting them in navigating this element of their lives.

According to a study by health tech brand Traya, "50.31% of Indian men experiencing hair loss are under 25. The study, involving over 500,000 men, shows that 25.89% are already at Stage 3 and beyond. As the age bracket shifts to 21–25, the number increases to 33.35%, indicating a serious hair loss concern in this demographic."

Dr. Kuldeep Singh, who is a senior consultant in cosmetic and plastic surgery at Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals in Delhi, exclusively told English Jagran about, what are the reasons for hair fall, especially in men before 25 years of age?
Reasons For Hair Loss In Men Before The Age Of 25
Dandruff: Approximately 65% of men under 25 with hair loss experience dandruff, which leads to scalp irritation and inflammation, ultimately resulting in hair loss.
Stress and Anxiety: The pressures of modern life contribute to heightened stress levels in young men, with 6 out of 10 individuals experiencing hair loss falling under this category. Stress is identified as a leading factor in hair loss.
Gastrointestinal Issues: The study indicates that compromised gut health affects 37% of men across different age groups experiencing hair loss. Gastrointestinal problems such as bloating and gas can be linked to premature hair loss.
Irregular Sleep Patterns: Three out of every ten young Indian men under 25 with hair loss exhibit irregular sleep patterns. Disrupted sleep can contribute to hair loss, indicating a potential link between sleep quality and the health of hair.
Hard Water: Hard water's high mineral content can lead to scalp irritation, dryness, and weakened hair shafts, ultimately disrupting the hair growth cycle and triggering excessive shedding, as seen in telogen effluvium.

Genetics: Hair loss can be influenced by genetic factors. This happens through something called androgenetic alopecia, also known as male or female pattern baldness. It's linked to how sensitive your body is to a hormone called DHT. When your body is too sensitive to DHT, it can make your hair follicles shrink, which makes your hair thinner and stops it from growing for as long as it should. How sensitive you are to this hormone determines how and where you might lose your hair. It's why you often see a predictable pattern of balding in families, for both men and women.
Dieting: Hair loss during dieting can occur due to nutritional deficiencies, particularly inadequate intake of essential nutrients such as iron, zinc, and biotin, which are crucial for hair growth and strength. Drastic calorie restriction may also induce physiological stress, leading to a condition known as telogen effluvium, causing temporary hair shedding. Insufficient protein intake during dieting can further exacerbate hair loss, as protein is essential for healthy hair growth and maintenance.
At last, Dr. Kuldeep said, "These findings suggest that a combination of factors, including dandruff, stress, compromised gut health, and irregular sleep patterns, are key contributors to hair loss in men before the age of 25. Recognizing these factors and addressing them early on can potentially help in reversing hair loss and preventing its progression to advanced stages."
