Easy Tips For Healthy Body: Mindful eating and practising Yoga regularly is considered a holistic approach to support a healthy heart. Together, they produce a harmonious method to overall well-being that strengthens the bond between the physical, mental, and spiritual selves. However, maintaining a heart-healthy lifestyle in the fast-paced world can be difficult for many. This can further escalate several physiological issues such as stress, bad eating habits, and low immunity.

In a conversation with Jagran English, Chandni Haldurai, Head of Nutrition at Cult explained about few simple yet effective tips to get you started.

Mindful eating is all about altering your perspective on food. One can replace any unfavourable emotions connected to eating with awareness, enhanced self-control, and positive feelings. Therefore, by altering eating habits and lowering the stress connected with eating, mindful eating may help with weight loss.

Add 5-10 minutes to each meal: If you're already taking 10 minutes to eat a meal, add 5-10 minutes more so that you push yourself to eat slowly

Eat with your non-dominant hand: A new and effective concept to make a conscious effort to eat slowly giving time to chew the food mindfully.

Time yourself: Using a timer gives you an idea of how many minutes or seconds you take to complete one spoonful of food

Taking a breath between bites: Take a breath between each bite so that you can space out the time and understand how much food your body needs. This is an important aspect that helps in understanding the satiety cues and eating food only till you actually feel full

Focus on the flavour: The ultimate purpose of eating food is to enjoy its taste, smell, and flavour. Focusing on the flavour of the food can help you salivate better (the most important part of mechanical and chemical digestion) in the mastication process.
