Water Storage Benefits: Water is the basic necessity of life. Water makes up about 60-70 per cent of the body's weight and plays a vital role in maintaining balance, regulating temperature, and supporting digestion. It also helps in transporting nutrients and oxygen to the cells, flushes out toxins, lubricates joints and keeps skin healthy and radiant. Water also helps in the proper functioning of the kidneys, prevents dehydration and improves energy and focus. Although people know the importance of water, little do few know the right amount to consume and store water. In a recent blog post of Isha Foundation, Sadhguru explains that storing and drinking water with awareness is another way of connecting with that element.
Sadhguru highlights that the quality of the water people consume directly influences their energy, health, and spiritual clarity. The manner in which water is stored and handled impacts the vitality of water, thus making the practice of conscious storage significant for general well-being and inner harmony. Here are the best ways to store and drink water for maximum benefits, according to Sadhguru.
Best Ways To Store Drinking Water
Sadhguru states that traditionally, water was stored in a metal pot, preferably copper, brass or some alloy of copper. In his blog post he has explained that previously, people would wash the copper vessel in the night with a little tamarind and turmeric, smear sacred ash on it, then fill it with water, put a flower on top of it, light a lamp next to it, and go to bed. The next morning, they used to drink that water.

Experts explained that storing water in earthen pots in the summer months is also a healthy practice, as it cools the water and further keeps the gut at ease.
Proper Ways To Drink Water For Health
Treat Water With Reverence
Sadhguru suggests treating water with reverence. He states, “Just spend one moment of gratitude and reverence before you consume water, because this is the material with which you are making your life.”
Drink With Your Hands
In his blog post, he mentioned that the best way to drink water is with your own hands. If it is not possible and if someone gives you water in a metal tumbler, always hold it with both your hands and drink it.
Drink Water At The Right Temperature
Sadhguru's post stated that in the Yogic culture, if you are on the path of inner transformation and want to transform your system to another dimension of possibility, then you only drink water which is within four degrees of your body temperature. His post states that the normal body temperature is somewhere around thirty-seven degrees centigrade, so you can drink water between thirty-three and forty-one degrees. For students, Sadhguru suggest that they should drink within a variation of eight degrees and if you are a householder managing a family, you can drink within a twelve-degree variation.

Amount Of Water That Is Good For Body
He mentioned that when you feel thirsty, you must drink water. Just to ensure that you are drinking enough, drink ten per cent more than what you actually need. It is very necessary that you drink water when there is an indication of thirst. When the body indicates you need water, you must give it water within twenty minutes or at the most half an hour, he states in the blog post.

Eat Water
Apart from drinking water, it is important to eat water-rich foods. If you eat a fruit, it is nearly ninety per cent water. Vegetables are over seventy per cent water. Your food must have a minimum of seventy per cent water content, he informs. This not only keeps the body hydrated but also aids digestion, supports nutrient absorption, and maintains cellular function. Eating water-rich foods like cucumbers, melons, oranges, or leafy greens helps regulate temperature, flush out toxins, and sustain natural energy levels throughout the day.
Sadhguru's instructions on how to store and consume water lead one from mechanical consumption to conscious involvement. If water is treated as a living force and its sanctity is honoured, it can help heighten physical energy, emotional balance and spiritual receptivity.
