Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday credited Rs 5,000 each to the bank accounts of 16,04,929 registered construction workers in Bihar under the state’s clothing scheme. The transfer, made through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), amounted to a total of Rs 802.46 crore.
At the ceremony, the CM also launched the web portal for the Mukhyamantri Pratigya Yojana, reiterating that the government aims to bring marginalised sections into the mainstream. He emphasised the role of workers in state development and directed the Labour Resources Department to ensure no eligible worker is left out.

The scheme, started in 2020, earlier provided Rs 2,500 for clothing but has now been enhanced to Rs 5,000. Deputy CMs Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, Labour Resources Minister Santosh Kumar Singh, and senior officials were present at the event.
A day earlier, Labour Resources Secretary Deepak Anand said the department is prioritising skill development and self-employment opportunities for Bihar’s youth. Addressing a programme at Niyojan Bhawan, he distributed free study kits and toolkits to 50 economically weaker candidates preparing for competitive exams and self-employment.

Assistant Director Priyanka Verma added that the distribution drive will be organised regularly and urged candidates to register at employment exchanges to avail benefits.
