In keeping with the dignity, tradition, and royal grandeur of the Darbhanga Raj family, the funeral rites of 93-year-old Mahadhirani Kam Sundari Devi will be performed with full royal pomp. Extensive preparations have begun within the royal family for the ceremony of the Mahadhirani, who was the third and last wife of the late Maharajaadhiraj of Darbhanga, Kameshwar Singh.
Outline Of Rituals And Shraddh Decided
Upon arriving in Darbhanga from Delhi, the Mahadhirani's grandson, Rajkumar Kapileshwar Singh, met with his elder cousin, Ratneshwar Singh, who performed the Mukhagni (lighting of the funeral pyre)at Kalyani Niwas. During this meeting, they sat with senior family members to finalise the outline for the rituals and the Shraddh ceremony, which will span 13 days.
Rajkumar Kapileshwar Singh stated clearly that all preparations for the Shraddh will be conducted in accordance with traditional rituals and royal decorum, ensuring that no effort is spared. He urged his elder brother to complete the rites following traditional rules.
Preparations For A Grand Event
Rajkumar Kapileshwar Singh has pledged to personally handle the responsibility for all arrangements. According to sources close to the royal family, the organisation of the Shraddh will be extremely grand from both historical and emotional perspectives. Many prominent figures from across the country and abroad are expected to attend the Mahadhirani's ceremony.
Invitations To Various Royal Families
The process of sending out condolence invitation letters has already begun. It is reported that several ministers from the central and state governments, central office bearers of the RSS, and members of various royal families across the country will arrive in Darbhanga to pay their tributes.
Anticipating a large gathering of guests, preparations to book several prominent and popular hotels in Darbhanga city have already commenced. There is increased activity at both administrative and social levels regarding the event. Meanwhile, Rajkumar Kapileshwar Singh’s elder brother, Kumar Rajeshwar Singh, will arrive in Darbhanga from the USA on Thursday. With his arrival, the preparations for the Shraddh will gain further momentum.
A Loss For Entire Mithilanchal
Former Minister and RJD leader Abdul Bari Siddiqui met with Rajkumar Kapileshwar Singh to express his deep condolences. He stated that this loss is not just for the Darbhanga royal family but for the entire Mithilanchal region, which has lost a dignified, cultured and philanthropic personality.

Ratneshwar Singh Shifts To Kalyani Niwas
After performing the last rites, Ratneshwar Singh, grandson of Rajbahadur Vishweshwar Singh (younger brother of Maharajaadhiraj Kameshwar Singh), immediately shifted to Kalyani Niwas. His wife is also accompanying him. Arrangements have been made for about a dozen people to assist with his care and the religious rituals during the mourning period.
It is noteworthy that Mahadhirani Kam Sundari Devi resided at Kalyani Niwas and breathed her last there on Monday morning. For this reason, following the cremation rites, Ratneshwar Singh has shifted to his grandmother's residence.
