IPL 2026 Schedule: Fans will have to wait for the full schedule to be announced. Star Sports revealed that the league will begin on March 28, 20 days after the T20 World Cup 2026 concludes. A partial schedule will be revealed in the coming days.

Speculation was rife that the full schedule for IPL 2026 would be revealed ahead of the T20 World Cup summit clash between India and New Zealand, but no such announcement was made.

The broadcasters have confirmed that the upcoming season starts March 28, though BCCI had previously given March 26 as a tentative date during the IPL 2026 auction.

Why is there a delay in the IPL schedule reveal?

All ten teams have started training camps for the season. Players like MS Dhoni, Shubman Gill, and Rohit Sharma are already preparing despite the uncertainty around the schedule.

The delay in announcing the IPL schedule is due to state assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and Assam. Since Chennai and Kolkata are the main IPL venues, their election schedules impact the release of the IPL fixtures. Rajasthan Royals will play three matches in Guwahati, which is also affected by the election timelines.
