The Delhi government on Saturday launched a large-scale cleanliness drive aimed at extensive cleaning, debris removal, and dust pollution control across the national capital.
High-Level Inspections
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta actively participated in the campaign, visiting Khyber Pass Chowk in Civil Lines to review on-ground sanitation and dust control measures. Meanwhile, Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa inspected the Saidulajab ward and IGNOU Road later in the day to assess the situation.
Intensified Monitoring
Minister Sirsa highlighted that the government has intensified its monitoring of waste management and construction-related violations. "This special cleaning drive has been launched, and as part of it, our MLAs and Deputy Commissioners are also on the streets," Sirsa stated.
Key measures include:
Regular Inspections: As per the Chief Minister's instructions, inspections are now being conducted three days a week to clear rubbish, bins, and debris and to monitor construction sites.
Data-Driven Strategy: The Public Works Department (PWD) is removing old waste and accumulated debris, with the current strategy formulated based on data collected over the last 7-8 months.
Future Plans
Looking ahead, Minister Sirsa announced that a comprehensive campaign targeting industries and construction activities will launch next week. "We hope to see good results and a reduction in pollution under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta," he added.
