Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on Saturday that their government is attempting to revive the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC), whose losses have risen to Rs 97,000 crore. They said, "The DTC's losses have become as large as Delhi's budget. Delhi's budget is Rs 100,000 crore, while the DTC's losses have reached Rs 97,000 crore." They said, "In the last 10 months, we have tried to revive the DTC."
Push For 11,000 Electric Buses
Addressing a meeting of BJP workers in Rohini, the CM said the Delhi government has set a target to increase the number of e-buses in the city to 11,000 over the next few years to strengthen public transport. They said, "The government is working on converting all public transport buses to e-buses. Currently, there are 5,500 buses. Our target is to increase the number of buses to 7,500 by the end of this year and to further increase it to 11,000 over the next two years." Rekha Gupta said the entire bus fleet will be electric.

Operations Taken Back From DIMTS
They said, "The previous Delhi government had handed over the entire operation of the DTC to the Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System (DIMTS), which included running the buses, deciding routes, and recruiting staff. This plunged the DTC into a crisis, and its drivers and conductors were left idle." They said, "We are gradually rectifying this by resolving various issues, including the payment of pensions. The bus operations have been taken back from DIMTS, and now the DTC itself will run them."
