In an interview with Vogue India, businesswoman Isha Ambani revealed that she conceived her twins through in vitro fertilization (IVF), a journey she shares with her mother, Nita Ambani. Emphasizing the importance of normalizing the procedure, Isha spoke openly about her experience, aiming to break the stigma surrounding IVF.

Isha Ambani, daughter of Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani, discussed her decision to opt for IVF, just as her mother did when she conceived Isha and her brother Akash. Isha’s openness about her IVF journey highlights the significance of modern reproductive technology in helping many achieve parenthood.

“I’m very quick to say that my twins were conceived via IVF because that’s how we’ll normalize it, right? Nobody should feel isolated or ashamed. It’s a difficult process. When you’re going through it, you’re physically exhausted,” Isha shared with the magazine. She added, “If there is modern technology in the world today, why not use it to have children? It should be something you’re excited about, not something you should have to hide. If you can find support groups or other women to talk to, the process can feel much easier.”

Isha, who is married to Anand Piramal, has twins—a daughter and a son—with him. The couple married on December 12, 2018, in a lavish ceremony in Mumbai attended by numerous high-profile guests from various fields. Isha’s advocacy for IVF underscores the importance of using available technologies to overcome fertility challenges and embrace parenthood.

In vitro fertilization (IVF) is a medical procedure where an egg is fertilized by sperm outside the body, in a lab. It is a common assisted reproductive technology (ART) used to help individuals or couples with fertility issues. The process involves stimulating a woman’s ovaries to produce multiple eggs, retrieving the eggs, fertilizing them with sperm in a controlled environment, and then transferring the resulting embryos into the uterus. IVF can be used for various reasons, including blocked fallopian tubes, male infertility, ovulation disorders or unexplained infertility, and has helped many achieve pregnancy and parenthood.

The Ambani family has been in the news throughout the year for the upcoming wedding of Isha’s younger brother, Anant Ambani, with Radhika Merchant. The much-anticipated wedding is set to take place in July in Mumbai, promising another grand celebration for the renowned family.
