Bengaluru Namma Metro Airport Line Update: In a major update for Bengaluru residents, the long-awaited Airport Metro line is expected to be operationalised by the end of 2027 as the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has set a goal for completion.

BMRCL Advisor Abhai Kumar Rai announced the deadline during a discussion on 'Sustainability in Action: Bengaluru’s Urban Challenge'.

Namma Metro coverage to increase to 175 km

Once the Airport Metro line is operational, the Namma Matro network will expand to 175 km. The airport line is the largest single expansion in the city.

Envisaging future expansion to meet long-term mobility demands, the BMRCL is also conducting feasibility studies for over 200 km of corridors.

Yellow line frequency to be reduced to 10 min

Meanwhile, the BMRCL is close to reduce frequency of trains on the Yellow Line to 10 minutes. The BMRCL recently stated that the eighth trainset is expected to arrive after January 15.

The eighth trainset will reduce frequency and, in turn, provide a convenient travel to commuters, especially during peak hours.

The development comes as the seventh trainset, which arrived on December 18, is set to be added for the public services on the Yellow Line by next week. Currently, the seventh trainset is being tested. Along with improving the frequency in the peak hours, the addition of these trainsets will also cut the waiting time during the day hours.
