Dehradun News: The Dehradun Police informed that a Tripura student died on Friday due to the stab injuries, almost two weeks after being attacked by a group of men in the Selaqui region. Angel Chakma, the deceased, was a postgraduate student in a private college and was receiving treatment at a hospital after being attacked over an argument on December 9. The officials informed that his brother was also present during the incident and sustained minor injuries. The deceased's brother informed that the attackers used racial slurs and attacked them when they objected.
The officials further stated that the brothers were also intoxicated during the incident, adding that a detailed probe has been ordered. While providing details, Jitendra Kumar, senior sub-inspector of the Selaqui police station, stated that the argument broke out near a liquor shop, adding that both the attackers and the victim had consumed alcohol during the incident.

“According to the victim’s brother’s complaint, Michael Chakma, who was present at the time and was also injured, the attackers were allegedly in an inebriated condition and used racial slurs for them. Both brothers had also consumed alcohol when the incident occurred”, Kumar was quoted as saying by the Hindustan Times.
Kumar further stated that the prime suspect belonged to Nepal and currently resides in Haridwar, adding that a special team has been formed to arrest him. Apart from this, five other accused were arrested on December 14 and are being interrogated for more details. “Five accused -- Avinash Negi, Shaurya Rajput, Suraj Khwas, Ayush Badoni and Sumit -- were arrested on December 14,” Kumar asserted.
In separate news, a class 11 student was shot dead in broad daylight in Gorakhpur's Cooperative Inter College in the Pipraich region on Friday afternoon. The victim, identified as Sudhir Bharti, a local resident, died at the scene.
