Jagran Correspondent, New Delhi: A domestic dispute turned fatal in southwest Delhi's Baba Haridas Nagar, where a man killed his wife by repeatedly hitting her with a 'tawa'. Following the incident, the accused husband walked into the police station and confessed to the crime.

Man Kills Wife With Tawa, Then Confesses To Police

According to a report by Jagran.com, the accused, Dinesh Patel, had been suffering from schizophrenia for the past two to three years and was undergoing treatment at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. Patel had also lost his job at an IT company about two months ago.

Investigators stated that financial frustration and his deteriorating mental health led to daily arguments over minor issues. The situation escalated on the night of the incident when Patel lost his temper during a dispute and killed his wife, Sarita, by repeatedly hitting her with a frying pan. The incident occurred in the Gopal Nagar area of Najafgarh.

What Accused Told Police?

The next morning, the accused walked into the Baba Haridas Nagar police station and confessed before the duty officer. Patel told the police that he had a fight with his wife on Saturday night. He stated that in a fit of rage, he repeatedly struck her on the head with a frying pan, killing her instantly.

During interrogation, Patel revealed that he and Sarita had been married since 2005 and HAD two sons. Their elder son is currently preparing for engineering entrance exams, while the younger is in the fifth grade.

Investigators also stated that Sarita's parents lived nearby in the Gopal Nagar area of Najafgarh. Dinesh was deeply distressed by his recent job loss and ongoing mental health issues, which led to constant tension at home, the report added.

Upon receiving information about the incident, a police team, along with the forensic science laboratory (FSL) and crime team, immediately arrived at the scene. Authorities thoroughly inspected the scene and collected evidence. The victim's body was sent for post-mortem examination.

The accused has been taken into custody, and a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against him under the murder section at the Baba Haridas Nagar police station.
