After weeks of intense heat, Gujarat is expected to witness a gradual increase in rainfall activity as the southwest monsoon continues to advance across western and central India. A weather system developing over the Arabian Sea, combined with favorable monsoon conditions, is likely to bring rain to several parts of the state over the next few days.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), light rainfall has already been forecast for parts of South Gujarat today, while scattered showers are expected to expand to Saurashtra and Central Gujarat between June 15 and June 20. Weather experts indicate that monsoon activity may strengthen further during the coming week.
The southwest monsoon has progressed over additional parts of Maharashtra, Telangana, and West Bengal. Its northern boundary currently passes through Solapur, Hyderabad, and Dhanbad. The IMD has stated that conditions remain favorable for the monsoon to advance further into Karnataka, Telangana, Jharkhand, Bihar, South Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, and the remaining parts of Maharashtra within the next 48 hours.

Rain Forecast for Gujarat
From June 14 to June 16, isolated light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms is likely in Surat, Tapi, Navsari, Dang, and Valsad districts.
Rainfall activity is expected to spread further on June 17 and 18, with districts including Gir Somnath, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Surat, Tapi, Dang, Navsari, and Valsad likely to receive light to moderate showers along with thunderstorm activity.
On June 19 and 20, similar weather conditions are expected to continue in parts of South Gujarat and Saurashtra, including Surat, Navsari, Tapi, Dang, Valsad, Bhavnagar, Amreli, and Gir Somnath.
The weather department has also indicated that daytime temperatures across Gujarat may fluctuate during the next seven days as cloud cover and rainfall increase. Bhavnagar remained the hottest city in the state on Saturday, recording a maximum temperature of 41.9 degrees C.
Meanwhile, the cyclonic circulation and western disturbance that were influencing weather conditions over Jammu and West Rajasthan have weakened, allowing monsoon systems to become more dominant over western India.
