Jagran correspondent, Patna: The southwest monsoon has picked up speed in Bihar. After a day of sultry heat, the weather changed in the afternoon. In Patna and surrounding areas, as well as districts like Sasaram, Buxar, Aurangabad, Jehanabad, and Sasaram, the weather has changed, bringing relief from the dark clouds and thunderstorms.
Rain accompanied by strong winds in several districts brought relief from the heat. In Patna and other places, a dust storm and drizzle brought normal weather. According to the Patna Meteorological Center, the monsoon is expected to spread to all districts within the next 72 hours.

The northern limit of the monsoon advanced through Purulia, Dhanbad, and Muzaffarpur on Saturday. Due to this, thunderstorms and rain are likely to persist across the state. The weather in Patna and other districts will remain unpredictable over the next 24 hours.
Rain and thunderstorms will continue at many locations. Temperatures increased in Patna and other districts on Saturday. Patna recorded a 2.6 degrees Celsius increase in maximum temperature, reaching 38.2 degrees Celsius, and Kaimur recorded the highest temperature at 40.0 degrees Celsius.
Rohtas district recorded a maximum wind speed of 29 km/h. Valmiki Nagar in the state recorded 0.4 mm of rainfall. According to the Meteorological Department, thunderstorms and rain are likely to persist in various parts of the state over the next five days.
Apart from this, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that several states are likely to witness light to heavy rainfall for the next few days. As per the weather department, rainfall along with thunderstorms and lightning is expected in several northern states, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, and Jharkhand. The rainfall has brought relief from the scorching heat by reducing the temperature by two to four degrees Celsius.
As per the weather department, the national capital will continue to receive rainfall at least until June 19. Along with Delhi, several nearby cities such as Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Gurugram, and Noida are also likely to witness similar weather conditions. While the maximum temperature in Delhi is likely to be calculated at 39 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature is expected to remain around 32 degrees Celsius.
