Karnataka Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated that after two days of light rain, several Karnataka districts are not likely to witness rainfall at least till January 7. The weather department stated that the temperature is also likely to increase by two to three degrees Celsius. However, it clarified that the northern districts are set to experience a cold wave and dense fog, especially in the early hours, affecting the vehicular movement. The weather department also stated that dry weather will continue across the state for the next 7 days, adding that light rainfall is expected after that.
While providing details, the weather department stated that several regions, including Dharwad, Belgaum Airport, Vijayapura, Bidar, Hassan, Davangere, Chintamani, and Mysore, have witnessed a surge in temperature in the past two days. They stated that the minimum temperature in these regions remained between 11.3 and 16 degrees Celsius, adding that the residents are likely to witness fog in the early hours. The weather department has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and plan their travel accordingly.
Apart from this, the minimum temperature in other regions, such as Haveri, Gadag, Raichur, Koppal, Kalaburgi, Chitradurga, Bangalore City, and Mandya, remained between 16 and 20 degrees Celsius. The weather department has stated that the capital city, Bengaluru, is likely to witness light rain till January 5, adding that the rainfall is likely to lead to waterlogging in several regions.

The presence of fog in the early hours is likely to disrupt the traffic movement. While the maximum temperature is likely to be calculated at 28 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature is expected to remain around 19 degrees Celsius. Along with Karnataka, the coastal regions of several other states, including Telangana, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu, are also likely to witness light to moderate rainfall.
