Madhya Pradesh: Days after the high-profile murder of Pune businessman Ketan Agarwal, who was allegedly killed by his fiancée and her lover, a similar case has emerged in Madhya Pradesh, where a man was allegedly murdered by his wife and her lover, just two weeks before the latter's wedding.
The deceased was identified as Raghunath, alias Sarju Kherwar, a resident of Bhari village. His body was found under suspicious circumstances behind a boulder along National Highway-39 on June 21.
According to reports, the accused woman was having an extramarital affair with another man.
During the investigation, police found that Raghunath and his wife, Ramkali Kherwar, frequently argued. Investigators alleged that Ramkali considered her husband an obstacle to her relationship with her lover.
The investigation further revealed that Ramkali was in a relationship with Neeraj Kumar Sah, a resident of Malga village. Police said Ramkali had told Neeraj that her husband was interfering with their relationship, following which the two allegedly conspired to kill him.
How the crime unfolded
On June 19, Neeraj, along with his friend Suraj Singh Gond, allegedly took Raghunath on a motorcycle to the side of National Highway-39 on the pretext of offering him liquor.
According to the police, Neeraj and Suraj assaulted Raghunath and allegedly killed him by striking his head with a stone.
The body of the 38-year-old was later found in a suspicious condition behind a big rock along the highway. According to reports, Neeraj was scheduled to get married on July 7.

Police have arrested three accused in connection with the case and seized a mobile phone, the motorcycle, and other evidence allegedly used in the crime. During interrogation, Neeraj allegedly confessed that he killed his girlfriend's husband at her request.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Siaj KM said the investigation initially led officers to suspect the wife. Following further inquiry, police arrested the three accused and recovered the mobile phone, motorcycle, and other evidence allegedly used in the murder.
