In a disturbing incident, a 3-year-old girl in Navi Mumbai was raped by a 30-year-old school bus driver on Wednesday afternoon while returning home from school. The incident occurred in Kamothe at around 12:30 pm.

What Happened To The Toddler?

According to police officials, the accused picked up students of kindergarten and primary medium school at around 12.30 pm. The minor was the last student to be dropped off. The accused took advantage and allegedly sexually assaulted her, the police official said.

The toddler upon reaching home, complained of having abdominal pain, alleging that the driver troubled her inside the bus. Following this, the grandmother complained the school management and registered a police complaint against the driver.

The girl was then sent for medical examination, wherein it was confirmed that she was sexually assaulted. The driver was subsequently arrested, and a rape cae was lodged against the driver. The statements of the staff members of the school will also be recorded.

The accused was produced before the Panvel court on Thursday, and was remanded to police custody on Saturday. Police have registered a case against the accused driver under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including those related to rape of a girl below 12 years of age, and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Separate Incident

In a separate incident, a minor girl was drugged and gang-raped in a car in West Bengal's Kolkata, prompting concerns about the safety of women and girls.

The accused allegedly recorded the sexual assault. The police are trying to identify the accused, locate the vehicle allegedly used in the incident, and confirm the exact location of the crime.

The complaint has been lodged by the victim's mother at Kolkata's Sarsuna police station, wherein she has alleged that about a month ago, two men gave her daughter a lift in a car in the Behala area of the metropolis, but drugged and gang-raped her instead.

She also added that an acquaintance of the girl was also present in the car. The accused filmed the sexual assault and later used the footage to threaten the victim.
