Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a public gathering at Taherpur Netaji Park in Ranaghat via video conferencing after his helicopter could not land at the Taherpur helipad on Saturday due to poor visibility, prompting his return to Kolkata airport. 
 
PM Modi is scheduled to address a rally in Taherpur in Nadia district, and reached Kolkata around 10:40 am for the same. A BJP rally, titled Parivartan Sankalpa Sabha, is scheduled today in Bengal town. According to the plan, PM was to take the chopper to Taherpur, where he is also scheduled to launch highway projects in the state worth Rs3,200 crore.
 
 
It wasn't immediately clear if PM Modi would reach the rally venue by road or whether he would wait for a clear route and make another attempt to reach Taherpur by the aerial route, the official said.
 
Several reports suggest that PM Modi can address the rally virtually, as travelling nearly a hundred kilometres from Kolkata to Taherpur may not be feasible. 
 

PM Modi Likely To Address Matua Community Over SIR

A large crowd has already gathered at the rally venue in Taherpur, waiting for the prime minister. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to kick off the BJP's campaign for the 2026 Bengal elections from the Taherpur rally today. It is anticipated that PM may counter TMC on the citizenship issue of the Matua community.
 
 
The Taherpur rally would be the first rally of PM Modi in West Bengal after the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Bengal was rolled out. Political observers say that Rally’s venue has been strategically chosen to address the growing unease amongst the Matua community members after SIR.
