Mukhyamantri Sehat Yojana: The Punjab government on January 22 launched the Mukhyamantri Sehat Yojana to extend free healthcare services to the residents. Punjab Health Minister Balbir Singh stated that around three crore people are likely to benefit from the scheme.

The health minister added that the scheme will include over 2,300 treatment packages, quoted by Jagran.com. These include secondary and tertiary care services across medical specialities such as orthopaedics, general medicine, cardiology, neurology, nephrology, neurology, and oncology. The government has signed a contract with the United India Insurance Company for this purpose, where the company will settle claims up to Rs 1 lakh across government and private hospitals.

For claims above Rs 1 lakh, the company will handle the claim verification and processing while the state health agencies cover the deficit over the threshold amount.

Who All Will Be Covered Under This Scheme?

- All residents of Punjab are covered under this scheme.

- To avail this scheme, residents need to register for the scheme through an Aadhaar card and a voter ID card for proof of residence.

- For those who are under the age of 18, their Aadhar card and the voter card of any one parent or guardian will do.

- The family covered under the scheme will consist of the husband/wife or a divorced person, a widowed daughter-in-law and their children.

- The head of the family must provide a declaration on the number of members in the family. There is no restriction on the number of members within a family.

Note: Those who are registered under the Ayushman Bharat scheme will receive an additional amount of Rs 5 lakh.

Mukhyamantri Sehat Yojana: How To Register?

- All the beneficiaries will receive appointment slips through youth clubs and wings of the Aam Aadmi Party, who will come to your doorsteps with the slips.

- You then need to take these slips to the nearby Common Service Centre (CSC) to register with the required documents.

- At least two family members must visit the CSC for registration.

Mukhyamantri Sehat Yojana: What About Private And Government Employees?

You will receive the benefits of the Mukhyamantri Sehat Yojana regardless of employment in the government or private sectors. Additionally, pensioners and regular employees of the Punjab government will also be covered.

However, those who are covered under the ESIC, CGHS or any other central or state government insurance scheme are eligible to avail the benefits of only one scheme.

What Services Are Covered Under The Mukhyamantri Sehat Yojana?

Under the Mukhyamantri Sehat Yojana, you will be eligible for the following services:

- Kidney Dialysis and Transplant

- Brain and spine surgery

- Knee and hip replacement

- Cataract surgery

- Post-natal and Pre-natal services

- ICU care

- Pre and post-hospitalisation services

All the beneficiaries under this scheme will be able to avail these benefits from over 824 hospitals which have been registered under the scheme. These include 212 public hospitals, eight central government hospitals and over 600 private hospitals. The scheme also covers the cost of treatment for those who cannot complete the treatment within their state.
