The incident occurred in the Ved Road area of Surat, where 42-year-old Janmajay Kumar Tirth Rai, originally from Deoghar district of Jharkhand, residing in Rahmat Nagar, was reportedly found dead after a fall from the second floor of a building.

Subsequently, Chowk Bazaar Police initiated a thorough investigation and analysed the CCTV footage in the vicinity.
CCTV Footage Exposed Alleged Plot
During the investigation, police discovered suspicious movements of a man in the CCTV footage, who, upon identification as Shulabh Singh Bambahadur Singh, was identified as the alleged lover of the victim's wife. According to DCP Raghav Jain, the investigators also found that Chandni Kumari had allegedly quarrelled frequently with her husband, and she was in love with her lover, thus conspiring to kill her husband.
According to the police, the murder took place on June 7, 2026. The investigators alleged that Chandni Kumari pushed her husband from the second floor of the building while he was asleep. Although the man had survived the fall, Shulabh Singh reportedly slit his throat with a blade and made it appear as a suicide.

Arrests Made After Interrogation
After interrogation, both Chandni Kumari (32) and Shulabh Singh Bambahadur Singh (28) reportedly confessed to murdering the man and later dumped him and fled. The accused were arrested from the Phulwadi area.
A case under IPC sections 302 and 201 has been registered, and both accused are in the custody of the police for further investigation.
Police sources claimed that the murder was reportedly committed because there was an extramarital affair between the woman and the accused, and they were interested in spending life together, and therefore removed her husband from their lives.
