In a unique turn of events, a 21-year-old NEET aspirant from Uttar Pradesh allegedly impersonated an Indian Army Brigadier for several weeks, complete with a luxury SUV displaying military insignia, forged credentials, and even a self-styled security entourage. The accused, identified as Aryan Verma, was eventually caught in a carefully planned operation by Army authorities and local veterans.

According to investigators, as quoted by NDTV, Verma travelled across Shahjahanpur and nearby areas dressed in a Brigadier's ceremonial uniform. He reportedly used a Tata Harrier fitted with an Army Headquarters flag and an officer-style registration plate to reinforce his false identity.

To make his story more convincing, he was often accompanied by two hired bouncers, whom he introduced as his personal "National Security Guard (NSG) commandos."

A case has been registered at Sadar Bazar Police Station, and further investigation is underway.

Fake Military And Medical Documents Recovered

During the search operation, authorities seized several items allegedly used to support the impersonation, including:

  • A forged Army identity card
  • An air pistol
  • A ceremonial peak cap
  • Army Medical Corps (AMC) insignia
  • A stethoscope
  • Fake visiting cards
  • Multiple ATM cards
  • A mobile phone

Officials believe these items were used to strengthen Verma's claim that he was both a senior military officer and a medical professional.

Failed NEET Attempts Led To Elaborate Deception

During questioning, Verma reportedly admitted that he had long aspired to join the Armed Forces Medical Services as a doctor. However, after failing to clear the NEET examination on multiple occasions, he allegedly fabricated a story about his selection.

Investigators said he convinced his family, his father is a horticulture department officer and his mother a schoolteacher, that he had successfully secured a position. To maintain the lie, he arranged a custom-made Brigadier's uniform, modified his vehicle, and began presenting himself as a senior Army officer.

Army's Sting Operation Exposed The Impostor

Military officials had reportedly been receiving information for nearly two months about a suspiciously young officer frequently seen around the sensitive Shahjahanpur Cantonment area.

Suspecting impersonation, Colonel JS Jaglan, Administrative Commandant of the Station Headquarters, coordinated with local ex-servicemen to verify the man's identity and devise a plan to catch him.

Officials then organised a trap by inviting Verma to attend a student motivation programme as the chief guest. The event was projected as a ceremony honouring youngsters preparing for military recruitment examinations.

The strategy proved successful.

On Friday morning, Verma arrived at the Shaheed Museum venue wearing full ceremonial attire and accompanied by the two men he presented as "NSG commandos." As soon as he reached the event, Army personnel detained him and his associates.

Authorities also recovered an identity card bearing a forged Government of India insignia from his driver. Later, Station Headquarters described the operation as a "textbook example of high vigilance and seamless coordination" between serving Army personnel and local veterans.
