Google is holding an event on the onset of the India AI Impact Summit, which is currently going on in full swing. At the event, Google's chief, Sundar Pichai, laid down some very important points and expressed that India is "going to have an extraordinary trajectory with AI". The tech titan also iterated that AI is the biggest platform shift that humankind is looking at right now that will become one of the most powerful tools that will aid in problem-solving and improve human lifestyle on a pan-country level.

Turning his focus to healthcare and diseases, the leader laid down how AI will help and said, "Whether it's making diseases more detectable and treatable, communities more resilient or learning more accessible."

Moving further, Pichai also iterated how AI will help India in filling the age-old gaps that persist and create new opportunities; this, he said, expressing faith in the amount of AI adoption that has taken place in the country, as it stands as one of the fastest adopters of AI technology.

Google Has Invested Over A Decade In AI

Google has been investing its resources in building AI and its infrastructure for over a decade now, as Pichai expressed in the meet that he feels is the most important way to advance its mission and that Google wants to start with reimagining products that are used every day. Giving the example of AI Overviews, Pichai said, "AI Overviews is one of the most successful products in the past decade, and AI Mode is now available across 35 new languages and 200 countries and territories."

India as the Highest Global Adopter

Google's chief has iterated that India is amongst the top adopters of voice and visual searches, and he further added that "In the coming weeks you will see an enhanced model that powers search like a real-time voice and camera tool so more people can search what they see in their own languages."

India Amongst Largest Gemini Markets

Gemini app has India as one of its largest markets with high adoption rates for its personal AI assistant, Pichai expressed. Pichai pointed to Google’s earlier announcement of a USD 15 billion AI hub planned for India, saying the project will feature gigawatt-scale computing capacity and an international subsea cable gateway, while also creating jobs and strengthening the country’s AI infrastructure.

India America Connect Initiative

At the meet Sundar Pichai also spoke about the India-America Connect initiative, which would inculcate the deployment of subsea cable routes in order to reinforce AI infrastructure and connectivity between the US and India and would also bring in other places within its purview across the Southern Hemisphere.

"Google has full-stack connectivity in India, and I have never been more excited about the future we are building together," he added.

Apart from that, Google also wants to invest in human resources and skilling up the people, and for that reason, it has also released the new Google AI Certificate Programme which will help people in mastering AI.

He also outlined several other initiatives, including collaborations with Karma Yogi Bharat to support more than 20 million public servants, work with Atal Tinkering Labs to bring Gen AI tools to 10,000 schools, and a USD 30 million AI for Science Impact Challenge aimed at pushing global research forward.
