HyperOS 4.0 (Android 17) Update: The first public beta of Android 17 is already out for Pixel devices, which is giving developers and users an early glimpse at what the next major Android update has to showcase. While only on Pixel devices for now, the new software update has given new clues for other tech giants to form their own OS software for their own devices, and with that, the Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has started taking steps in the same direction.

Going by reports of internal leaks and testing, Xiaomi is now preparing for its new OS, the HyperOS 4, which is expected to come with some useful enhancements over the current OS.

HyperOS 4.0: What to Expect?

As expected, this latest release will run on Android 17, which is the next base for most custom-built OSs to come in the future. Currently Xiaomi has halted the updates till March 2026, as China celebrates its New Year, but reports tell us that HyperOS 4.0 is already in the making.

When it comes to upgrades, the new OS could sport better performance and battery life, as the company goes on to build an indigenously embedded system architecture while keeping its Android core intact. Although due official confirmation from the company is still awaited and this information is based on leaks and rumors that have surfaced over the internet, through reports on the new OS.

With that said, the list is not official and is based on information given on the Xiaomi AER page, reports, leaks, and rumors, and official confirmation regarding the same is awaited. If the company goes by its convention, then first we will see flagship devices receiving the update, like the Xiaomi 17 Ultra and so on. With a gradual release cycle, a complete rollout might get to us by later this year or even early 2027.
