Vivo has started teasing its next V-series smartphone in India. The company has confirmed that the Vivo V80 is coming to the country, although the exact launch date is still under wraps. For now, Vivo’s teasers give us a look at the phone’s design and make it clear that cameras will be one of its main selling points.

The V80 will take over from the Vivo V70, which was launched in India earlier this year. Like the previous model, the new phone will also feature a Zeiss-branded camera setup.

Vivo V80 Design

Vivo shared the first teaser for the V80 on X on Tuesday. A landing page for the phone has also gone live on Vivo’s India website, but it only says “coming soon” rather than giving us a specific launch date.

The teaser shows the phone in an orange finish. At the back, there appears to be a triple-camera setup with an LED flash. The overall design looks in line with Vivo’s existing V-series phones, while the Zeiss branding is clearly visible around the camera section.

Vivo is also calling the V80 a “creative partner” in its teaser, which gives us a fairly clear idea of where the company wants to take this phone. Photography is likely to remain at the centre of the V80’s pitch.

What We Know About The Vivo V80

There is still quite a bit that Vivo hasn't revealed. Leaks, however, have already started filling in some of the gaps.

The Vivo V80 is expected to launch in India in the first week of October. It could come with a 50-megapixel telephoto camera capable of 3x zoom. Another major upgrade could be the battery. The phone is rumoured to feature a 7,200mAh battery, compared with the 6,500mAh unit on the V70.

The software could also get a significant change. The V80 is tipped to arrive with Android 17 and Vivo’s OriginOS 7. These details are based on leaks and have not been confirmed by Vivo yet.

Vivo V70 Specifications

The Vivo V80 will replace the Vivo V70, which made its India debut in February at ₹49,999. The older model runs on the 4nm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset and comes with 8GB LPDDR5x RAM and 256GB UFS 4.1 storage.

Its display is a 6.59-inch VM9 AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 5,000 nits of peak brightness. The phone packs a 6,500mAh battery and supports 90W wired charging. It also carries IP68 and IP69 ratings.

The V70's camera setup includes three Zeiss-tuned rear cameras: a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 50-megapixel telephoto camera and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens. There is another 50-megapixel camera on the front.

For the V80, Vivo appears to be sticking with the same camera-first approach while reportedly giving the battery a sizeable boost. The company should share the remaining details, including the India launch date, closer to the phone’s debut.
