Ghaziabad: GDA Transfers Roads, Sewerage Assets To Municipal Corporation; Rs 66.32 Cr Assistance Approved

The Ghaziabad Development Authority has transferred road and sewerage assets of its main residential schemes to the Municipal Corporation. The corporation will receive financial aid of Rs 66.32 crore for maintenance and operations in areas such as Swarna Jayantipuram, Pratap Vihar, Govindpuram, and the Madhuban Bapudham STP.

Ghaziabad: GDA Transfers Roads, Sewerage Assets To Municipal Corporation; Rs 66.32 Cr Assistance Approved
The GDA will provide Rs 66.32 crore to the corporation as financial assistance for maintenance and facility operations.

In a move aimed at strengthening urban governance and improving civic services, the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has formally transferred road and sewerage assets of several major residential schemes to the Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation. To support the maintenance and efficient management of these assets, the Municipal Corporation will receive financial assistance of Rs 66.32 crore.

The residential schemes and infrastructure handed over by the GDA include Swarna Jayantipuram, B-Block of Karpoori Puram, KA and KB blocks of Bhaurao Deoras Colony, Pratap Vihar, CP Block of Govindpuram, the main bund road of Rajnagar Extension, and a 56 MLD capacity Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) located in Madhuban Bapudham.

The handover was carried out by GDA Vice Chairman Nand Kishore Kalal to Municipal Commissioner Vikramaditya Singh Malik in the presence of officials from both the GDA and the Municipal Corporation. Along with the physical assets, technical records, drawings, and operational documents related to maintenance and management were also transferred.

According to the GDA, the financial assistance will be released in two instalments. The first instalment of Rs 33.16 crore will be provided in February, followed by the remaining Rs 33.16 crore in March. The funds will be used to strengthen sanitation services, road maintenance, sewerage and drainage systems, green development initiatives, and traffic management.

Officials said that the operationalisation of the 56 MLD STP will significantly enhance sewage disposal capacity and contribute to improved control of water pollution in the city.
