To ensure smooth traffic flow, Divisional Commissioner Dr Roshan Jacob conducted a surprise inspection of Lucknow-Kanpur Road at Nadarganj and Khande Dev on Wednesday. During the visit, he directed officials to strictly penalise vehicles parked on the road and instructed Saurabh Chaurasia, Project Director of NHAI, to expedite the highway construction between Lucknow and Kanpur.
She emphasised the need for regular diversion of heavy vehicles from Junabag and ordered the demolition of illegal structures obstructing drainage work. Additionally, she directed officials to launch an anti-encroachment drive to clear the roads.
Dr Jacob also stressed the importance of increasing NHAI patrolling vehicles for round-the-clock monitoring and ensuring roads remain free of unnecessary materials. She instructed PNC company to deploy additional hydra cranes and marshals at closer intervals and to widen the service lanes along the Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway where needed.
Until the expressway is completed, she suggested keeping flyover and underpass routes closed and prioritising night-time construction work. At Dahi Chowki, she noted that the ongoing 51-meter flyover construction has severely narrowed the road, leading to traffic congestion, and called for immediate traffic diversions.
PNC assured that the flyover construction would be completed within two months. The inspection was attended by Unnao District Magistrate Gaurang Rathi, Superintendent of Police Deepak Bhukar, and NHAI officials.
