The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) department has identified 400 square metres of land on the Scooter India premises, near Ashok Leyland, for the construction of Lucknow's Flatted Factory Complex (FFC).
The project was previously planned for the Amausi industrial area, but it has been moved to the Scooter India land due to the unavailability of suitable land at the former site. This five-storey complex is expected to house around 150 micro and small industrial units.
Land Allocation Context
The state government allocated 70 acres of Scooter India's 147.49-acre land to the Hinduja Group for an Ashok Leyland unit, which will manufacture electric buses and trucks. The remaining land was placed under the Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA).
The MSME department has now started preparations to build Lucknow's first Flatted Factory Complex on 400 square metres of this remaining UPSIDA-managed land.
Complex Features And Target Industries
A plan has been prepared for the five-storey complex to operate on a 'plug and play' system. The MSME department aims to establish units from several small industries, including:
- IT
- Sports shoes
- Apparel
- Toys
- Food processing
- Incense sticks
- Spices and savoury snacks
- Electronics
- Hosiery
- Streamlined Process For Investors
The MSME department will obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from all relevant departments in advance. This initiative will save investors the hassle of seeking NOCs from various departments individually when setting up their units.
Future Plans
MSME Minister Rakesh Sachan stated that after Lucknow, preparations are also underway for the construction of a Flatted Factory Complex in Gorakhpur.
