The Regional Transport Department, Noida, has intensified its crackdown on makeshift (jugaad) vehicles as part of Dainik Jagran’s ongoing campaign reviewing construction, facilities, and safety on busy roads. Despite Sunday being a holiday, officials conducted extensive enforcement drives across the district, leaving rule-violating drivers scrambling.
From the Regional Transport Officer to on-ground staff, the entire department was deployed to enforce compliance and educate negligent motorists. The crackdown was supported by the traffic police, who actively targeted drivers contributing to pollution through unsafe and irresponsible practices.

Teams from the Regional Transport Department and traffic police took action in Surajpur, Dadri, DND, and Greater Noida against makeshift vehicles and rule violators. In view of rising pollution and GRAP restrictions, strict action was also taken against trucks transporting stones and construction materials, with challans issued and warnings delivered on the spot.
Between 8 AM and 7 PM, the combined enforcement teams issued 453 challans to trucks, makeshift vehicles, and other violators across the district.
Traffic DCP Dr Praveen Ranjan Singh monitored the drive throughout the day, instructing personnel to remain firm against negligent drivers while prioritising awareness about safe travel.
According to traffic police data, more than 150 vehicles were seized during the latest enforcement campaign. Under the supervision of Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh, officials have adopted a zero-tolerance policy toward habitual violators. Drivers were initially educated about traffic rules and given warnings, but repeat offenders, caught speeding or violating rules more than twice, had their vehicles confiscated.
From January to November, the traffic police seized 12,000 vehicles, including heavy vehicles, buses, auto-rickshaws, four-wheelers, e-rickshaws, tractors, and makeshift vehicles.
ARTO (Enforcement) Dr Udit Narayan said that during the district-wide drive, challans were issued to 453 drivers, each given a stern warning as part of ongoing efforts to ensure safer and cleaner roads.
