With the High School and Intermediate board examinations scheduled to commence on February 18, 2026, the Uttar Pradesh Board of Secondary Education has intensified its preparations. The Department of Secondary Education has issued strict instructions ensuring that the prescribed syllabus for all subjects is completed 100 per cent before the exams begin.

Directives To Schools And DIOS

The department has conveyed these mandates to schools across all districts through the District Inspectors of Schools (DIOS).

Mandatory Completion: Schools must ensure that all teaching and learning activities covering the entire syllabus are concluded before the examination start date.

Extra Classes: Schools facing difficulties in finishing the coursework on time have been directed to conduct extra classes with immediate effect.

Monitoring: The DIOS have been tasked with regularly reviewing the progress of syllabus completion in all schools within their jurisdiction to ensure the deadline is met.

Teachers Balancing Additional Workload

Highlighting the challenges on the ground, Sushil Kumar Singh, State President of the Uttar Pradesh Principals' Council (Uttar Pradesh Pradhanacharya Parishad), noted that teachers are currently managing a significant additional workload.

"Teachers' participation is being made mandatory in programmes like ParikshaPeCharcha, as well as in various government schemes, data feeding on apps, and other activities. Targets are also set for including students in several schemes, which has increased the pressure on teachers," said Singh.

Current Status

Despite the administrative pressure, the Council stated that teachers are prioritising the students' interests. Efforts are being made to complete the curriculum, utilising online teaching methods where necessary. According to reports, approximately 80 per cent of the syllabus has already been completed in most schools across the state, and the remaining portion is expected to be finished shortly.
