Strict action against criminals began in UP as soon as Yogi Adityanath became the CM. Speaking at the UP Pharma Conclave 1.0, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that over 900 riots took place in Uttar Pradesh between 2012 and 2017. There was not a single city where a curfew had not been imposed. At that time, there would not have been a single entrepreneur, doctor or businessperson who had not paid extortion money.

The Challenge Of Instilling Confidence In Citizens

He said that in such a situation, when the Prime Minister and our party entrusted me with this responsibility, we had to face this challenge and also instil confidence in every citizen. Naturally, we could not do this selectively. We decided on zero tolerance and zero tolerance will be applied equally to everyone. If one of our own people does wrong, the same law will apply to them as it does to any member of the mafia or a criminal.

Dealing With Criminals In The "Language They Understand"

CM Yogi said that we tried to act within the confines of the law, but there are times when, if an individual does not fear the law, it becomes necessary to bring them under its purview and make them understand its language. People often comment and ask why the police opened fire. If the police do not shoot, should they get shot instead? Both things cannot happen simultaneously.

If that criminal has the freedom to open fire, then we have given pistols to the police so that they can also confront them. They are dealt with in the same language.

Transformation Of Uttar Pradesh As An Investment Destination

In the last 9 years, there have been major positive changes. Everything is running smoothly. No one talks of breaching the peace, anarchy or ransom. There are no riots, no disturbances, no extortion. Today, such a situation does not exist anywhere and Uttar Pradesh has established itself as an excellent investment destination.
