Under the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, Uttar Pradesh will soon begin the admission process for 6.5 lakh reserved seats in private schools across the state. The online application is expected to begin in the last week of November or the first week of December.
The Basic Education Department has accelerated preparations for activating the RTE portal and issuing login credentials to officials. Mapping of more than 65,000 private schools has been completed, where children from economically weaker sections and disadvantaged groups will be eligible for free admission in pre-primary (Nursery, LKG, UKG) and Class 1.

Last year, around 3.5 lakh online applications were submitted, and 1.85 lakh seats were allotted. Of these, 1.41 lakh children successfully took admission. This year, the government aims to ensure 100 per cent seat utilisation by encouraging more applications and streamlining the admission process.
To resolve grievances swiftly, a dispute-redressal committee will be set up in every district under the chairmanship of the Chief Development Officer (CDO). If a school refuses admission, parents will be able to file an online complaint using their parent login, which must be resolved within seven days.
Applicants must prepare key documents such as:
-Children’s and parents’ Aadhaar
-Residence proof
-Aadhaar-linked bank account
-Income and caste certificates (where applicable)
-Relevant certificates for disabled parents, widows, pension beneficiaries, HIV/cancer-affected families, or homeless children
