Vindhyachal in Mirzapur is rapidly emerging as a major religious and eco-tourism hub in Uttar Pradesh, following the popularity of Kashi and Ayodhya. According to Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh, the Maa Vindhyavasini temple is expected to attract over 1 crore devotees by the end of 2025.

In the first six months of the year alone, more than 64 lakh devotees visited the temple, surpassing last year’s total of 78 lakh.

The rising footfall has also benefited other key sites in the region, including the Vindhyachal Trikon Yatra, which encompasses the Vindhyavasini Devi, Ashtabhuja, and Kali Khoh temples. More than 38 lakh devotees have visited the Ashtabhuja temple so far this year, compared to 55 lakh in 2024.

The state government is redeveloping the Ashtabhuja and Kali Khoh temple areas in a corridor-style layout, upgrading roads, ghats, and transport facilities, and constructing special platforms to enhance the evening Ganga Aarti experience.

Principal Secretary Mukesh Kumar Meshram highlighted efforts to diversify tourism beyond monsoon waterfalls, focusing on rural homestays, nature walks, trekking paths, traditional handicrafts, and local cuisine.

Additionally, the inclusion of Salkhan Fossil Park on UNESCO's tentative list of World Heritage Sites is expected to further boost the region’s popularity among tourists.
