Adobe has officially confirmed that its flagship video editing software, Premiere, is making its way to iPhones. The app is already listed on the App Store and will launch on September 30 as a free download. Unlike Adobe’s earlier mobile offering, Premiere Rush, this new version brings a much more complete editing experience that’s closer to the desktop software. An Android version is also in the works.
Packed with Desktop-Level Tools
Premiere for iPhone won’t be a stripped-down editor. It supports a multi-track timeline with unlimited video, audio, and text layers, 4K HDR editing, and quick export options for platforms like Instagram and YouTube Shorts. The app also includes automatic resizing for different social formats, along with built-in tools such as auto-captioning and styled subtitles.

AI at the Core
Adobe is building Firefly-powered AI directly into the app. Creators will be able to generate sound effects, clean up background noise, and even create images, videos, and audio using text prompts. On top of that, the app will connect users to Adobe’s stock library—music, graphics, photos, video clips, fonts, and Lightroom presets are all accessible within the editor.
Free to Use, Paid for Extras
Premiere on iPhone will be free to download and won’t place watermarks on exported projects. However, advanced users may need to pay for extra cloud storage or AI credits to unlock more intensive features. Adobe says the goal is to deliver professional-grade tools for creators—whether they’re working on short social videos, music projects, or full-scale commercial edits—within a mobile-friendly interface.
Rising Competition in Mobile Editing
The launch arrives at a time when mobile video editing is heating up. Apps like Meta’s Edits and platforms such as Captions are already popular among short-form creators. Adobe’s move brings heavyweight editing tools into the same space, giving it an edge with professionals and aspiring editors alike.

Expanding Adobe’s Mobile Push
This release builds on Adobe’s broader mobile strategy. Earlier this year, Photoshop landed on iOS with an Android beta underway, and standalone Firefly apps rolled out across platforms. With Premiere now entering the iPhone, Adobe is steadily building a complete creative suite for mobile-first users.
