Apple is all set to unveil the iPhone 17 lineup on September 9, with the spotlight firmly on the flagship iPhone 17 Pro Max. Alongside it, we’ll also see the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, and iPhone 17 Pro. Pre-orders are expected to open the same day, while sales may kick off from September 19.

Fresh design tweaks

This year’s Pro Max could bring some noticeable design changes. Leaks suggest a larger rectangular camera island at the back, still housing three cameras but with the flash and LiDAR shifted to the right. Apple may also move away from the titanium frame used in the iPhone 16 Pro Max, opting instead for a glass-and-aluminium build.

The Action Button and Camera Controls are expected to stay, while a dedicated vapour cooling chamber might make its debut. On the front, users could see slimmer bezels, a refined Dynamic Island, and a slightly bigger display.

Expected specifications

The iPhone 17 Pro Max is rumoured to feature a massive 6.9-inch ProMotion OLED screen and the new Apple 19 Pro chip. It could ship with 12GB of RAM and start at 256GB of storage. Powering it might be a 5,000mAh battery with faster charging support. As for software, it’s likely to run iOS 26 with the latest Apple Intelligence features baked in.

Camera upgrades

The camera setup is tipped to include a trio of 48MP sensors—main, ultrawide, and telephoto—with up to 5x optical zoom. For selfies and video calls, a new 24MP front camera could be on board.

Possible price hike

Apple may raise the pricing of its Pro Max model this year. In India, the iPhone 17 Pro Max could start at Rs 1,64,990 for the base 256GB version, compared to Rs 1,44,990 for the iPhone 16 Pro Max. In the US, the expected price is $1,249, while in Dubai it could be AED 5,299.
